Unlike single-elimination tournaments, a championship allows every team to meet all other participants. It is the gold standard for clubs and regular competitions.
1. Define the match format
The championship is based on the 'Round Robin' system. You must decide whether teams face each other once (single leg) or twice (home and away).
- Single leg: Ideal for one-day tournaments.
- Home and away: Perfect for leagues spanning several weeks or months.
2. Set up point scoring
This is the crucial step for establishing the standings. With TournaManager, you can fully customize point attribution:
- Win: Traditionally 3 points.
- Draw: 1 point (or differentiated based on whether goals/points were scored).
- Loss: 0 points.
3. Manage matchdays and the calendar
A league is divided into matchdays. For a 10-team championship, there will be 9 matchdays (in a single leg). TournaManager automatically generates this calendar for you, ensuring that no team plays two matches at the same time.
4. Live tracking and tie-breakers
At the end of a championship, ties are frequent. Our software automatically manages tie-breaker criteria: overall goal difference, goals scored, or head-to-head results. Your players can follow the standings in real-time on their phones.
